San Francisco's Gendell Gallery, stands alone at the edge of Russian Hill's “Upper Polk” neighborhood. Hidden behind the stone facade lies a salon-style gallery featuring three rooms dedicated to 20th century vintage photographs as well as established contemporary photography.
Dealing in both the secondary and primary photography markets, Gendell Gallery places an emphasis on 20th century figurative & portraiture, social-documentary, pictorialism, and coming-of-age / children in photography. These themes are also highlighted on the galleries website in addition to special exhibitions by individual photographers, such as Dorothea Lange. (see home page)
Working with both experienced collectors and those new to collecting photographs, the gallery typically recommends books (visit our on-line bookstore) to help broaden the collector's knowledge base.
Gendell Gallery provides consulting and appraisal services to individual collectors and institutions, and also accepts collector consignments of fine photographs.
Visitors to San Francisco's popular “Union Square” can hop on the Hyde Street Cable Car Line, get off at Pacific Avenue, and walk one block (downhill) to the gallery.
We look forward to your visit!
