The male figure has been an important element in the photography of Clifford Baker for over 5 decades. In capturing the interplay between nature, model and photographer, Baker creates "his California", an harmonious reconciliation of nature and civilization, and of body and spirit.

 Clifford Baker's photographs are held in the permanent collections of Stanford University, California and the Bancroft Pictorial Collection University of California at Berkeley. 

All silver prints were printed by Clifford Baker in his darkroom. Due to recent complications with Glaucoma Mr. Baker is no longer able to print from his negatives, hence all images are available on a "first come" basis.

In 1955 while attending Stanford University, California, Clifford Baker began to document dormitory and student life. The Stanford University Archive has acquired more than 50 gelatin silver prints from this series for their University Collection.

In 1960 Baker moved to San Diego where he continued to photograph & explore the "Figure in Landscape" including California Dunes and Beaches.
